skype has encountered a problem and needs to close RESOLVED!
Having issues with Skype suddenly for no reason not working? The dreaded “skype has encountered a problem and needs to close” error message is not very helpful but there is a way to fix this error and get skype working again.
1. Un-install skype
2. Delete the following folders (un-installing skype doesn’t do this)
“C:\Documents and Settings\{your user-name}\Application Data\Skype”
“C:\Documents and Settings\{your user-name}\Application Data\skypePM”
3. Download the latest version of Skype and re-install
Note: you may find that doing the folder deletes in isolation may resolve the issue without un-installing Skype
The issue seems to be caused by a corrupt user profile which is rectified by deleting the application data folders.
